The New York Times: Elizabeth Spayd has joined @nytimes as a public editor. She also serves as editor-in-chief and publisher of The Columbia Journalism Review. Spayd takes over for Margaret Sullivan who recently joined The Washington Post as a media editor. Spayd had worked at The Washington Post for 25 years before joining The Columbia Journalism Review. Spayd will become the 6th public editor at the Times. 2. Fortune: Ellen McGirt (@ellmcgirt) is now penning Fortune’s “raceAhead” email newsletter that covers diversity in the workplace @fortunemagazine. The raceAhead newsletter looks to share and analyze experiences of African-American, Asian and Native American people from today’s American corporate world. Its scope and vision hopes to provide business leaders with better information to make better decisions on diversity at work. McGirt was formerly a senior writer at Fast Company for over six years, and had worked at Time Inc. with Money, and Fortune. 3. Thomson Reuters: Washington Bureau Chief Kevin Krolicki (@krolicki) has been promoted to regional Americas editor @Reuters. Krolicki had been in the interim role since March after three years of service in Japan where he was the Reuters bureau chief in Tokyo. Krolicki won the Reuters Editor of the Year award in 2013. Krolicki replaced Marilyn Thompson who left for Politico earlier this year. 4. Business Insider: Oliver Darcy (@oliverdarcy) takes on the political editor role @BusinessInsider in early June. Darcy is the former deputy managing editor at TheBlaze. He previously worked as their night editor for two years also. Darcy had previously worked at Glenn Beck's online political news site for over three years. 5. The New Yorker: Vera Titunik is the new the executive editor @NewYorker. She joins after working as The New York Times Sunday business editor for over three years. Vera also was The New York Times Sunday story editor for ten years, and was previously a Senior Editor at Fortune. The New Yorker is a culture and political weekly magazine that also showcases poetry and fiction and reviews the arts.
